Basic Zip Me Up

This past Saturday, the beau & I had planned a day at Disneyland. One thing led to another and we had to postponed our trip until the following day, Sunday. So there we were, Saturday with nothing to do. We decided to lounge around in Hollywood, catch lunch at Chipotle and later on, attend evening mass (since we wouldn’t be able to attend Sunday).

At first I was a little hesitant to make this post because, even though I like it, I felt like it was too “basic”. HOWEVER, I realized that this blog is my everyday outfit adventures. I’m an ordinary girl and as a human being, I have lazy days, unplanned days and even bad days just like everyone else. There are days were I just lounge around in sweats, running shoes, with a tank and throw on a denim top over (I just described my outfit as I type, HA!) Point is, LET’S BE REAL!!! I like simple, effortless and basics! When you think basic is boring…basic is really the next BIG thing! Keep it simple & sweet with a basic piece :)

                         -Top: Fashion Street L.A.
                         -Pants: Bubbles Boutique
                         -Shoes: DTLA Alleys
                         -Cross-body purse: F21 (old)

When it comes to basics, you can wear just about anything that is plain and…PLAIN! I went with this jersey looking sweatshirt. I love this one because even though it looks very basic, the zippers on the side at a very “unique” edge. To me it still looks basic but of course with modern finish. The best part of this sweatshirt is that even though it looks very simple, you can easily dress it up by wearing a skirt and throwing on a statement necklace.

I decided to pair my outfit with these lace up booties bought last year in DTLA. One of my favorites to bring out in the fall just because they’re comfy and bring out femininity.

To avoid reaching out for jeans or black pants, I chose white. I felt like the colors complimented each other nicely without it being overwhelming. It definitely kept the basic look on point. Plain and simple! Nonetheless, when it comes to basic, it doesn’t mean boring. To avoid boring, you can added a statement piece to give your outfit that “oomph”. Mine happened to be this red studded cross-body bag that a friend of mine bought for my at F21 while it was on sale for about $7. (SCORE!)

So before I go, let me just reiterate the following, when all else fails, GO BACK TO BASICS!!! Add a statement pop and you’re good to go. Hope you all had a FABULOUS weekend my lovies! Thanksgiving is right around the corner…time to get GLAM before the ham! :) Blessings! Xo-M

Leather, Prints & Knits

Hola mis amores! It’s been quite a couple of days since my last post. I recently started a brand new job and now I work Monday through Friday from 8am-5:30 pm. Hence why I can no longer post OOTD throughout the weekday…well, I can but by the time I’m off, it’s dark, cold and all I want to do is head home to cuddle in bed. So, you’re the first to know that you can look forward to my posts on Saturdays and Sundays. Hip hip HOORAY for the weekends!! :) So let’s begin with yesterday’s outfit adventure… <3

So yesterday morning, I woke up in a bit of a rush. I wanted to slip on anything that didn’t take much effort. The weather was nice and warm, so I knew I could get away with a skirt. I decided to wear this skirt because it reminds me of fall for two reasons. #1 It’s knitted and #2 It’s in a burgundy “wine” color, which happens to be a favorite of mine during the fall.

The knitted skirt is a perfect piece to own here in Los Angeles because it screams out Fall but at the same time, you can keep cool when you have warm or even HOT autumn days. So, if you’re in L.A., don’t hesitate to search for one…and if you’re from somewhere else in the world, STILL, don’t hesitate to buy one. This skirt looks so cute with nylons and boots ;) Another great style for winter! Moving on, I had literally just washed this striped top and had it laying on my bed that morning. What do you know, perfect match…But still, something was missing to bring out the stripes. What a better choice than this leather vest of mine to compliment not only my shoes but also to give it a grungy look.

What I like about this outfit is that it’s soo ultimately casual and comfy…BUT still trendy….or at least I think so :) haha To finish of the look, I wore two bracelets, one given to me as a birthday gift from my beautiful friend Gabie (GRACIAS GORDIS). I also wore a Marc Jacobs ring that I’ve had for over 7 years and last but not least, my favorite accessory of all, MY SHOES!!! I’ve been obsessing over these puppies for weeks now. You can find them at Lola Shoetique at a very affordable price.

If you’re in L.A., definitely stop by to ANY of the various locations that Lola Shoetique has. Great customer service that you won’t regret.

Hope you like today’s post…tomorrow I’m off work early, so let’s hope I can squeeze in a post. Blessings! Xo-M

Buzzin' in L.A.

The best way to describe L.A. weather is bipolar. We are officially in Fall and lately, it’s been starting to get cold but then there will be a random day were we find ourselves in the 80s. RIDIC I tell you. Nonetheless, I LOVE L.A. I can’t complain and we are not only during my favorite season of all, but also my favorite month of all…NOVEMBER! Finally! Not only is it my birthday month but just knowing that it’s November, I feel cozy and get excited that chilly weather is well on it’s way. I love Autumn colors and leaves falling. I feel like it’s a moment in time were we have the opportunity to let go of all the negativity, bad thoughts and grudges. It’s a time where we let all those things fall like the leaves on a tree, allowing for fresh new leaves and flowers to bloom in the Spring time :)

This past Sunday, although it wasn’t EXTREMELY cold, it was a tad bit chilly. So I wanted to wear something warm but still appropriate for mass and later a date-night with my beau. This sweater was the perfect thing to wear. It kept me warm and the color just made me feel more excited for fall. I think another reason why I loved the color combination so much was because it reminded me of a bumble bee…and let’s face it! Sometimes I am so busy that I feel like a busy bee, buzzin’ around town.

When it comes to Fall and Winter, just like any other girl…I absolutely LOVE wearing knits, over-sized sweaters, beanies, leggings, scarfs, gloves, legwarmers and boots. COUNT ME IN! The cozier, the comfier, the better heaven is! But let’s face it… L.A. isn’t quite there yet. So for this knit sweater, I wanted to make it look edgy. I wanted to stay away from the coziness and really just dress it up in a trendy way. This is why I threw on a denim long-sleeve top underneath to add a color tone to keep the pants from blending in with the dark navy blue stripes.

HOWEVER, what really gave this entire look that extra EDGE were these AMAZING, beyond comfortable pants with obvious faux-leather accents found only at the front. Ladies! These are FAB! You must get your little hands on these babies because they’re truly perfect to dress up and down.

Lastly, I finished off the look with these hot heels. Seriously, I can wear these everyday. They go with everything and anything. For accessories it was the usual…a few rings and my daily purse (I only took one picture with it just to give you a jist but let’s face it, I need to use  my other purses). Hope you ladies really liked this post because I was really happy with it. See you soon with a brand new outfit adventure…maybe Friday…Saturday the latest :)
