Call it what you want, real leather, faux leather, pleather, even “cuero” for all you spanish speaking fashionistas, but the point is, it’s IN! From peplum, to shorts, to T-shirts, pleated skirts, dresses, leggings and biker jackets. From the alleys to high fashion streets, it’s the IT piece to own. Don’t be afraid to be on the edge and wear LEATHERette ;)
This past Sunday, I felt like bringing out the edge in my closet. Sometimes a little toughness with a sprinkle of sexyness can make you feel like a sexy BADASS! (Excuse the language or lack there of)

This fall, more than in the past months and seasons this year, I have seen a crazy amount of leather in apparel and even accessories. It seriously is the IT trend right now. So much that leather can even be found in boho cardigans as little accents, that in all honesty, look SO beyond edgy and cute! For this past Sunday look, I wanted to show you ladies that if you’re not really big on leather, you can start off small by purchasing a top like the one I’m wearing. It has just the right amount of leather accenting this two tone knit top all around as a border. I think it’s the perfect touch to give this asymmetrical top the perfect amount of individuality. The cut plus the leather accent make it one-of-a-kind and the knit fabric, gives off a very sophisticated edge.
The visible gold zipper really helps this baby look street-style!
For this look, I wanted to go over the top with leather without having it look too tacky. In other words, I wanted to show you that you can wear leather with more leather but still look chic. [Be aware that you can only do that with the right fabric and right combination. Some leather on leather can really make you look…well, let’s just say too gooey!] I chose these faux leather pants to compliment my top because the kind of fabric wasn’t too shiny. The pants have a matte finish that really just make them look trendy, NOT cheap and still chic.
To finish the look, I paired my outfit with these AMAZING shoes from Lola Shoetique. I seriously love these and the reason I bought them was because, since I live in L.A., booties all the time and working, only make me hot when we have bipolar weather. I can’t get enough of these. They’re so comfy and they come off as sandal but bootie inspired. Definitely the must have bootie sandals for Fall 2013.
So my lovies, there you have it! Hope you guys feel a little encourage to try out the leatherette movement. If you’re not ready for bold leather, take baby steps and start off with accessories or even small details in your clothing. I promise you, you will become obsessed! Until next post. Blessings & Besitos!! XXoo-M
