Cuero

Call it what you want, real leather, faux leather, pleather, even “cuero” for all you spanish speaking fashionistas, but the point is, it’s IN! From peplum, to shorts, to T-shirts, pleated skirts, dresses, leggings and biker jackets. From the alleys to high fashion streets, it’s the IT piece to own. Don’t be afraid to be on the edge and wear LEATHERette ;)

This past Sunday, I felt like bringing out the edge in my closet. Sometimes a little toughness with a sprinkle of sexyness can make you feel like a sexy BADASS! (Excuse the language or lack there of)

-Top & Pants: Fashion Street L.A.
               -Shoes: Lola Shoetique
               -Purse: DTLA

This fall, more than in the past months and seasons this year, I have seen a crazy amount of leather in apparel and even accessories. It seriously is the IT trend right now. So much that leather can even be found in boho cardigans as little accents, that in all honesty, look SO beyond edgy and cute! For this past Sunday look, I wanted to show you ladies that if you’re not really big on leather, you can start off small by purchasing a top like the one I’m wearing. It has just the right amount of leather accenting this two tone knit top all around as a border. I think it’s the perfect touch to give this asymmetrical top the perfect amount of individuality. The cut plus the leather accent make it one-of-a-kind and the knit fabric, gives off a very sophisticated edge.

The visible gold zipper really helps this baby look street-style!

For this look, I wanted to go over the top with leather without having it look too tacky. In other words, I wanted to show you that you can wear leather with more leather but still look chic. [Be aware that you can only do that with the right fabric and right combination. Some leather on leather can really make you look…well, let’s just say too gooey!] I chose these faux leather pants to compliment my top because the kind of fabric wasn’t too shiny. The pants have a matte finish that really just make them look trendy, NOT cheap and still chic.

To finish the look, I paired my outfit with these AMAZING shoes from Lola Shoetique. I seriously love these and the reason I bought them was because, since I live in L.A., booties all the time and working, only make me hot when we have bipolar weather. I can’t get enough of these. They’re so comfy and they come off as sandal but bootie inspired. Definitely the must have bootie sandals for Fall 2013.

So my lovies, there you have it! Hope you guys feel a little encourage to try out the leatherette movement. If you’re not ready for bold leather, take baby steps and start off with accessories or even small details in your clothing. I promise you, you will become obsessed! Until next post. Blessings & Besitos!! XXoo-M

Casual in Color --Part II: A Day Look!

At the start of Fall, I recall telling you guys that in Los Angeles, we would have about another month of Summer left in October. Guess I hit the jackpot because it has been in the low and high 80s this entire week. Which of course means fresh clothing. This past Wednesday, I re-wore these colorful hammer pants mainly to show you, that investing in bold garments like this one can be worn in many, MANY different ways. I guarantee it will not be one of those “I’m only going to wear it once” type of scenarios. So here’s Part II…It’s hammer time!

                      -Bubbles Boutique cami & vest
                      -Pants from FashionStreetLA (coming soon)
                      -Sandals from Charlotte Russe
                      -Necklace from DTLA Alleys

So for part II, I wanted to create an outfit that would look as comfy and casual as possible, without understating the pants. For that, I knew denim would be my best friend. Why denim? Because denim brings out that “cool, laid back vibe”. It never fails on an effortless look while still looking trendy…of course, styling it the right way! Like I said, I wanted a casual look without adding anything overwhelming or any more color for that matter. That’s why underneath the denim vest, I went with a white racer-back tank top. I think that was the perfect touch for a clean look.

To complete the look, I wore this big black stone metallic necklace that I found in the alleys for $5. If you can tell in the pictures, the necklace has bronze undertones surrounding the stone and black gems. Which was perfect because I definitely needed a simple accessory to compliment my sandals, since it did have bronze studs. I also did a messy braid just to add more to the look.

So there you have it ladies. If you ever come across a funky piece that you really love, don’t be discouraged by telling yourself that you don’t know what to wear it with. Inspire yourself to take a risk and add a fun item to your closet and everyday style. :) Hope you enjoyed this post! See you tomorrow with our next outfit adventure…Blessings!!! XO-M

Color Me Pretty --Part I: A Night Look!

About two Saturday’s ago, it was my boyfriend’s little nephew’s 1st birthday party. He and I decided to gift him his first birthday cake which was BEYOND amazing! The birthday was a total success and I couldn’t be happier  to have had the pleasure of being able to be a part of this special day. How did I dress for the occasion you ask? Well, before I go into outfit details, I must say that there will be TWO parts to this post! So come back for Part II tomorrow ;) In the meantime, here’s a picture of the cake and my precious little baby turtle :)

As I was saying, considering that we would be at a children’s party this day, I wanted to wear something vibrant and fun. I wanted it to be playful and almost kiddy in a sense without loosing femininity and a pinch of sexy. So here’s my fun, young lady ensemble…

                            -Top from Bubbles Boutique
                            -Hammer pants from FashionStreetLA (ComingSoon)
                            -Shoes from Go Jane

So you know how I instantly fall in love with everything, especially bold pieces of clothing? Well, I fell MADLY in love with these fun hammer pants also known as “parachute pants”. They instantly reminded me of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. It’s such a funky statement piece to own and they are soooooo comfy! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already worn these. I LOVE THEM!

Clearly, the focus of this outfit are my pants. I just couldn’t and cannot get enough of these. Believe it or not, despite the pants being so bold, they’re actually extremely versatile. You can dress them up just by throwing on a pair of sexy heels and at the same time, easily dress them down for a casual look. However, even though it was a children’s party, there would still be family around and I didn’t want to entirely loose my womanish appeal, for I often am seen as a little girl. SO!!! I paired these pants with this black chiffon peter pan collar top to compliment my black single sole heels.

This top was the perfect touch for me, to give it a little sex appeal without being too provocative. It kept a fine line between sexy and conservative for a family and children environment. Underneath it, I wore a lace sweetheart crop top inspired bra. Don’t worry, underneath the lace is my REAL and padded bra. [haha] I chose to go with a black top because I wanted it to compliment my shoes but mainly because I wanted the pants to be the statement piece. I think black was the ideal color to help the colors on my pants POP!

So there you have it ladies. A sexy and bold outfit to make a statement on a night out with your girls or in my case, a birthday party :) Hope you ladies enjoyed my post! Stay tune for tomorrow’s OOTD. I will be featuring the same pants BUT for a more casual day out. Blessings mis amores!!!! XO-M

It's a Grape Day!

I know that a blog should be consistent and I’ve been TERRIBLE lately. So I apologize for “NO POSTS” and even my “LATE POSTS!” However, remember I said I’ve been getting sick lately? Well, it was another WEAK week. I was EXTREMELY sick last week that I am NOW, officially getting out of it. I’m still a little congested with a mild cough but nothing NyQuil can’t cure. Anyway, a few days ago, I mentioned that I’ve been in “Sneaker” mood. So here’s my latest street-wear post :)

                                       -Top & Pants: Bubbles Boutique
                                       -Vest: Bubbles Boutique
                                       -Shoes: Jordan 5 from Finishline

Like any other girl, when it comes to getting dressed, by the time I’m officially ready, my room is a complete tornado. Clothes everywhere, trying on and off different possible choices, mixing and matching…the whole enchilada. However, when it comes to dressing down, it just comes naturally. It’s so easy for me. Which is weird because I absolutely LOVE getting dolled up. Anyway, this outfit was so beyond last minute. When I purchased this tank, I immediately knew I wanted to rock it with my Grapes. Graphic Ts are an ultimate favorite of mine because not only are they fun, trendy and laid-back, but for a girl like me, they’re a must have to wear out with all my sneakers.

One of the reasons why I instantly loved this basic tank was because the colors on the shark were so pretty! It reminded me of when I was a kid and the “IT” colors wear the baby pink’s & baby blue’s…and somewhere in between the new “IT” colors were hot pink, turquoise/teal and purple! haha Do you remember those days? Anyway, I chose to wear these blue “denim” looking pants to help bring out the color on my top more. They’re probably one of my favorite pants ever because not only is the color PERFECT but, they’re comfy and are also high-waist (MY FAVORITE).

To finish the look, I obviously paired my outfit with these sneakers “Grapes” because of the colors…BUT, to kind of dim the whole “matchy-matchy” look, I threw on this pleather vest. I knew I wanted to wear something on top to avoid being so bare and when I remembered I had this vest, I knew it was the perfect piece to add edge and keep it cool. I absolutely LOVED this look.

Hope you guys liked this look and if you’re a girl sneaker collector or just have a few pair of sneakers/ Jordans, I really hope this helped inspire you. I know it’s hard so wear sneakers sometimes, Jordan’s in particular and still keep that femininity or simply look cute. HOWEVER, it’s not impossible ladies. You just have to find the appropriate fit. Don’t give up ladies! Sneakers can definitely be fashionable! Blessings!!! XO-M

Street-wear

So today I ditched the heels and opted for my favorite pair of Jordan’s in the entire universe. You see, growing up I didn’t have much but everything I did have, was given to me by my mom with a lot of love and sacrifice. I’ve always been a “sneaker, jeans and T-shirt” type of girl. From Payless shoes, to swapmeet shoes, later upgrading to converse (my favorite growing up) and eventually my most expensive shoes, Vans. However, Jordan’s were never in the budget. They were to expensive to ask and I didn’t really care much for them because I was always thankful for what I already had. However, I clearly remember these Jordan 3s. I was in the 6th grade when I first saw these shoes and I fell in love. These were the only Jordan’s I ever really desired and every time I wear these, I treasure them. They’re my babies.

                                        -Jordan 3s from Finishline
                                        -DTLA purse

Okay so moving on. Lately, I’ve been in sneaker mode, all day, everyday. I worn sneakers this entire week straight. Today was no exception. I actually worked this outfit around my shoes. In fact, that’s how I always style my outfits of the day. I begin with “What shoes should I wear today?” And the rest is history. Today I had planned to visit the mall to do a little walking from store to store. I wanted to be comfortable and considering that the weather was gloomy, I knew pleather pants were a good choice..since there would be no sun to fry me up.

I wanted to keep the look casual but still trendy at the same time. I wanted to add a little style to it to avoid looking so plain. Initially I was going to wear a white T but, I eliminated that option when I remembered I had bought this top two nights ago. The reason I loved this top was because it fit me perfectly. It was fitted and wrapped around my waist to avoid looking so boxy. It was the perfect fit and even more perfect to compliment these pants. I know, I know, pleather and denim is a little played out but c’mon!!! You can’t go wrong. I personally love this duo of a trend because its such a trendy yet effortless look. I take this HUGE inspiration from Kanye West. I disapprove of some of his style choices but for the most part, he pulls off trendy looks with such class.

Again, accessories were minimal. I wore out this quilted, pleather and gold braided purse to add femininity to this look. It’s such a comfy purse. No hassling and it’s a good size for theme park days or just a day out that includes a lot of walking. Hope you ladies enjoyed this post. It’s starting to get a lot cooler in L.A. so be ready for warm outfit posts. Blessings! XO-M
