Très Gris

For today’s post, I wanted to share with you an outfit idea of how I normally dress for school. Personally, I think that just because you are in school, it doesn’t mean that you have to give up style. If you prefer to dress down with leggings, comfy shoes and big oversize tops/sweaters topped with a bun, that’s perfectly okay. Whatever YOU feel confident in, is what matters. Ultimately, you should always dress accordingly to whatever works for you and your comfort. However, if you’re like me, sometimes when it comes to school, I need that extra push to feel alive…playing dress up and mascara do just the trick for me!

You know how I’m obsessed with every single item I buy? Well, I was ecstatically obsessed with this turtleneck sweater…! So much I bought them in BOTH colors available online, black & grey. Lately, my style has changed drastically and with the start of the cooler seasons, I was in major need to buy loose-fit turtlenecks. It’s been a little hard to find flowy-loose tops but luckily I found these. I love how it gives that conservative-modern vibe.

To compliment the grey loose-fit and keeping in mind I was going to school, I wanted to give my look that cool-chic touch. Instantly I thought leather! It was the perfect compliment. To add texture, I chose to re-wear my quilted leather skirt. I’m so happy how much I wear this skirt. It’s a must in my fall wardrobe.

To complete the look, I decided to feature these snakeskin print sneakers that I bought at H&M about 2 years ago. I found these babies on sale for just $7 while I was in line for my checkout. Meant to be? I think so because it was a MAJOR STEAL! Just add an insole for EXTRA cushion & comfort. These sneakers definitely give this look that sporty-chic vibe, perfect for school.

There you have my school outfit adventure of last week. Can’t wait to show you how I style my second dolman turtleneck top in black that I wore this past sunday. Stay tune and see you on our next adventure :) Ta ta ladies!

The Prints

Hi my lovely ladies! I’m finally back with my latest outfit adventure! Today’s post is a late one because I actually wore this outfit for this past weekend getaway. I was spending my long weekend in Palm Springs to celebrate one of my best friends birthdays. Apparently, November babies are quite popular because I’ve seen celebrations on Instagram galore haha So Happy belated & early Birthday to all you November babies! Here’s to wishing you many blessings, love and success in all your endeavors! Anyway, hope you enjoy this casual post that I put together to travel to the 2nd land of the Palms, the first being L.A. (to me anyway)!

I don’t get out often when it comes to traveling to new cities. I’ve actually never left the state of California except other than the time when I was 7 years-old and my parents took my siblings & I on a road trip to Las Vegas. I know! I know! I’m missing out but believe me, there’s good reasoning and I can’t wait to one day start my traveling diary to places I never even imagine. Only life will tell, for now, Palm Springs was ideal and this outfit choice could not have been more appropriate. Comfy and casual without jeopardizing my style. Can I also mention that it was super effortless!

By the time we would arrive to Palm Springs, we were looking at a forecast of mid 80s and 90s. For the first day, considering that we would do some grocery shopping for the entire weekend, I knew I was going to be in major need of sneakers for the walking we would endure. Also, keeping in mind that it would be mildly warm, I knew I wanted to wear a dress. My choices pretty much just stumbled upon each other. A boxy dress was perfect for the loose comfort since I wanted to move around without feeling suffocated. And of course, l had to throw in my usual “tie-around” the waist gingham flannel for a statement. Which worked out because it compliment my breds nicely.

This is my first time mixing prints and what made it even better was the fact that I just kind of grabbed as I was getting dressed. I felt like the dress alone with sneakers was really boring and when I turned around to take a look at my closet, saw the gingham hanging and luckily, it worked. I loved the contrast of stripes and gingham together. The sneakers brought out the sporty-street vibe. What I love even more about this look is that if you’re not a sneaker kind of gal, you can totally kick them off and wear booties. It works for an everyday outfit and its the perfect touch of femininity. Like always, hope you enjoyed the read. Thank you for stopping by and wherever you may be today, may you have a very blessed day! Happy Tuesday :)

Polka-Dotted-Denim

Happy November Lovelies!!! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that we are experiencing the last two months of the year! The older I become, the faster time flies. This month is one of my favorite because not only is it my birthday month but around this time, you really begin to experience fall to the fullest. Chilly weather, crunchy leaves, some rain, breezy winds, Thanksgiving (one of my favorite holidays), coffee nights and last but not least, I finally get to wear warmer outfits. I’M EXCITED! For today’s post, I bring you another style that never fails when you need a quick outfit to throw on. I present, my own personal version of denim-on-denim.

Now, before I begin this post, I know a lot of you girls have seen countless of denim-on-denim looks. You’re probably thinking “How original!” Right? Well, this is my first time giving this look a try and I did so even more because I felt that these polka jeans were a great subtle statement. I felt like they added a little fun to the typical denim-on-denim look. Maybe someone has done it already but I personally haven’t come across it, so I feel like a style genius haha just kidding!

For today’s look, I woke up extremely late. I had about 30mins to get ready and head out for mass with my little sister. Thank goodness for night baths because that only meant having to worry about my outfit. I’m not sure if I’ve featured this top before other than on my waist, but it’s an everyday favorite. I’ve worn and re-worn this thousands of times. Especially, when I’m in a rush. Trust me ladies, you need to own a denim/chambray top. It’s essential and a great staple in your wardrobe.

Today’s weather was pretty chilly and breezy, therefore I wanted to wear pants. I opted for these polka-dot jeans. I bought them about a month ago at H&M and absolutely adore them. I’ve always liked polka-dots but I personally avoid them because they make me look like a little girl. Even more so when the polka-dots have color. However, when I saw it on denim, it was a whole different story. They have a classic feminine and fun look to them. Which is perfect because I can rock the dots without making me feel like I’m 7-years-old. Another reason why these jeans had me sold was because the fit was femininely baggy. In other words, baggy-fitted and a little higher on the waist. These have slowly become the new Boyfriend jeans and they are called “The Girlfriend Jeans”. Clever? haha

And just like that, we welcome a new month, a new season, a new style for fall that is rapidly growing as I type and a new outfit post by yours truly. I hope you liked this short but sweet outfit adventure with one of my favorite style staples, denim. May you all have a beautiful rest of your Sunday night. I’m about to start working on a homework assignment and gather some thoughts for my last midterm tomorrow. Wish me luck! Xx-M

Rock Plaid

When you step into the world of fashion, we come across trends galore. One that was popularized in the 90’s has been making it’s way back into our closet and it goes by the name of PLAID. It’s everywhere. Although it doesn’t need a season, I think that Fall & Winter happen to be the most appropriate for plaid to make a statement. In today’s post, I bring you my first plaid look. It’s a little bit of a western-edgy outfit that I would wear on a brunch out with my girls or even a movie night out with that special someone.

                 Bubbles Boutique Plaid Dress
                 Bubbles Boutique Leather vest
                 Forever 21 Booties
                 Ross Fringe Purse

Although we purposely didn’t capture it in the photographs to save it for a future post, this plaid dress has an old west embroidered saddle-stitch along the buttons. Thanks to the embroidery, I based my outfit for a modern western look.

When watching old western films, we are accustomed to seeing the men’s style revolve around cowboy boots, jeans, plaid shirts and over them, a fringe or suede vest. However, because I was going for the modern version of the look, I opted for a faux leather vest. This leather vest is a favorite of mine to bring out for the cooler seasons because it adds a tough-edge while adding warmth.

To finish the look, what is a modernized western outfit if it doesn’t include fringe and boots, right? So of course, I had to throw on my favorite booties and brought along this fringe purse that I found at a local Ross for just $10! SCORE!!! I love that the purse has fringe and the studs are such a modish touch.

Can’t wait to showcase more plaid looks this season. I love them because they remind me of Christmas. Anyway, HAPPY THURSDAY MY LOVIES! It’s a BRAND NEW DAY! Make it count. I will be working all day today but from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a peaceful & successful day. Even at work, the day counts so be sure to give out your best and share a smile. Blessings amores! Xx

Fashion Grail

When it comes to getting dressed in the morning, I usually like to plan ahead by picking out my outfit the night before. However, there are days where I completely procrastinate to the fullest. Those are the days when I literally stare at my closet for 30 minutes and think to myself, “I have nothing to wear”. When clearly that is SO not true. Nonetheless, I’ve realized that on those same days, I gravitate without a doubt for some trousers and a crop-top. I can’t even explain the countless amount of times this look has saved me. It’s most definitely my fashion grail.

                Steve Madden Trousers. Similar HERE
Calvin Klein mini heel found HERE

I came across these high waist trousers a few years ago at a local Macy’s. I saw them and was shocked to know that Steve Madden had a clothing line. I picked them up to try them on and much to my surprise, I fell in love. It was a surprise because at the time, I was 19 years old and my style was far away from trousers. I’m so happy that at that moment I gave them a try because now, they have become my go-to pants when I have no time to think but still want to look like I did.

For this Sunday look, I was spending the day with my family. We attended mass like every Sunday and later headed out for Mexican food here in L.A. So I wanted to dress appropriately for mass without having to wear a dress.  I think this look has casually-chic written all over it. The trousers give it the perfect clean look. It adds just the right amount of sophistication. The crop top was just a basic piece that embraced the season. Like I’ve said before, it’s still not cold enough to wear long sleeves and coats but it’s getting there.

To finish off the look, I wore these simple pointy toe heels that I bought not too long ago. I actually bought them because I wanted a small heel for days where I didn’t want to wear high heels but also didn’t want to give up on height. In other words, this is my kind of “flats”. It’s so easy to walk in, I can run errands and work in these all day without jeopardizing comfort. I love them. So simple. So chic.

So there you have yesterday’s Sunday Funday look. Like I mentioned above, my fashion grail. Not the same pieces in particular but definitely the crop-top & trouser combo. It’s been my life saver. Can’t wait to bring you a new look this Wednesday. I’ll be featuring these trousers just to show you how convenient owning a pair is and how combining it with a crop-top, you will always look effortlessly in style. Stay tune. Have a good-night my lovies. May God bless you all and I wish you all beautiful night! Tomorrow, don’t forget to seize the day!! Xx
