Rock Plaid

When you step into the world of fashion, we come across trends galore. One that was popularized in the 90’s has been making it’s way back into our closet and it goes by the name of PLAID. It’s everywhere. Although it doesn’t need a season, I think that Fall & Winter happen to be the most appropriate for plaid to make a statement. In today’s post, I bring you my first plaid look. It’s a little bit of a western-edgy outfit that I would wear on a brunch out with my girls or even a movie night out with that special someone.

                 Bubbles Boutique Leather vest
                 Forever 21 Booties
                 Ross Fringe Purse

Although we purposely didn’t capture it in the photographs to save it for a future post, this plaid dress has an old west embroidered saddle-stitch along the buttons. Thanks to the embroidery, I based my outfit for a modern western look.

When watching old western films, we are accustomed to seeing the men’s style revolve around cowboy boots, jeans, plaid shirts and over them, a fringe or suede vest. However, because I was going for the modern version of the look, I opted for a faux leather vest. This leather vest is a favorite of mine to bring out for the cooler seasons because it adds a tough-edge while adding warmth.

To finish the look, what is a modernized western outfit if it doesn’t include fringe and boots, right? So of course, I had to throw on my favorite booties and brought along this fringe purse that I found at a local Ross for just $10! SCORE!!! I love that the purse has fringe and the studs are such a modish touch.

Can’t wait to showcase more plaid looks this season. I love them because they remind me of Christmas. Anyway, HAPPY THURSDAY MY LOVIES! It’s a BRAND NEW DAY! Make it count. I will be working all day today but from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a peaceful & successful day. Even at work, the day counts so be sure to give out your best and share a smile. Blessings amores! Xx

Fashion Grail

When it comes to getting dressed in the morning, I usually like to plan ahead by picking out my outfit the night before. However, there are days where I completely procrastinate to the fullest. Those are the days when I literally stare at my closet for 30 minutes and think to myself, “I have nothing to wear”. When clearly that is SO not true. Nonetheless, I’ve realized that on those same days, I gravitate without a doubt for some trousers and a crop-top. I can’t even explain the countless amount of times this look has saved me. It’s most definitely my fashion grail.

                Steve Madden Trousers. Similar HERE

I came across these high waist trousers a few years ago at a local Macy’s. I saw them and was shocked to know that Steve Madden had a clothing line. I picked them up to try them on and much to my surprise, I fell in love. It was a surprise because at the time, I was 19 years old and my style was far away from trousers. I’m so happy that at that moment I gave them a try because now, they have become my go-to pants when I have no time to think but still want to look like I did.

For this Sunday look, I was spending the day with my family. We attended mass like every Sunday and later headed out for Mexican food here in L.A. So I wanted to dress appropriately for mass without having to wear a dress.  I think this look has casually-chic written all over it. The trousers give it the perfect clean look. It adds just the right amount of sophistication. The crop top was just a basic piece that embraced the season. Like I’ve said before, it’s still not cold enough to wear long sleeves and coats but it’s getting there.

To finish off the look, I wore these simple pointy toe heels that I bought not too long ago. I actually bought them because I wanted a small heel for days where I didn’t want to wear high heels but also didn’t want to give up on height. In other words, this is my kind of “flats”. It’s so easy to walk in, I can run errands and work in these all day without jeopardizing comfort. I love them. So simple. So chic.

So there you have yesterday’s Sunday Funday look. Like I mentioned above, my fashion grail. Not the same pieces in particular but definitely the crop-top & trouser combo. It’s been my life saver. Can’t wait to bring you a new look this Wednesday. I’ll be featuring these trousers just to show you how convenient owning a pair is and how combining it with a crop-top, you will always look effortlessly in style. Stay tune. Have a good-night my lovies. May God bless you all and I wish you all beautiful night! Tomorrow, don’t forget to seize the day!! Xx

Contemporary Tweed

As I’m working on this post, I can’t help but look at myself in these pictures and take a look at how much my style has evolved over the past two years. As a matter of fact, I just finished taking out a lot of clothes from my closet that I know I will no longer wear…like EVER! Nowadays, I like loose fit things. But loose doesn’t always mean baggy, hence why it says “loose-FIT”. This matching set is a perfect example of what I like and even better because it screams out FALL IN LOS ANGELES :)

For all you style lovers, if you kept up with “Spring & Summer Trends”, you know that a very big one were the matching sets. Colorful, playful, sexy and cute! However, I know not everyone felt comfortable or in some cases daring enough to wear one because..
1. The prints & colors were very BOLD!
2. Very baring.
Nonetheless I’m here to say that it’s a new season and I encourage you to give the matchy-matchy look a shot. The colors & prints are a lot less crazy and guess what, most this season consist of sweaters & skirts. Tops & pants or in this case, shorts and oversized tops!

This matching set in particular is the perfect example of how we embrace the fall in Los Angeles. We have to make the best of it and honestly, I’m not complaining. I get the best of both worlds. I can still wear shorts and style myself with fall inspired looks. This set had “AUTUMN” written all over it for me. The tweed look-a-like fabric and color was ideal.

I’ve worn this set countless of times already and every time, it’s a new compliment. Especially for the top. I can’t stop wearing. I really love it because it reminded me of the Tweed-Suits men would wear back in the late 30s. Again, I can’t get enough inspiration from the men, especially those who embrace styles from the old days. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era because of how much I obsess with late fashion.

Anyway, back to outfit of the day! To keep the look trendy, I accessorized with my favorite quilted purse and wore this pearl choker that I’m uber in love with. I love how elegantly subtle it is but it makes the perfect statement. The first time I ever came across it, it was worn by one of my absolute favorite fashion bloggers, Adriana Gastelum from Fake-Leather! So I definitely thank her for the inspiration. To complete the look, I initially wanted to wear my booties from Forever 21 but I’d figure you would see me using them all fall so I needed to give you guys a break. I brought these babies out instead! It’s been awhile since their last feature. Well ladies, there you have it. Hope I helped as a little inspiration to give matching sets a chance this season. You’d be surprised of how great they are! You basically have an outfit put together for you. Take advantage! Xx

Rue Love

As many of you know, street-wear is a HUGE element in my closet. As much as I love to embrace my femininity, I’m also all about embracing the street culture. Comfort is a must in my book and more importantly, throwing on a pair of sneakers. What can I say, living in Los Angeles aids for Ts and jeans to be worn year round without a fail. So here’s today’s “infamous” L.A. look featuring and supporting one of my friends clothing lines, Rue Co.

Rue Co. “Vena Amoris” T-shirt found HERE

When it comes to the city of angeles, snapbacks and Ts fit effortlessly. They’re timeless pieces for us Angelenos. I specifically based this look off this mens T-shirt because of it’s simplicity. We all know that white is the most refreshing color and when it comes to laid-back looks, I love to be inspired by the boys. I had the T-shirt altered into a boxy crop-top because it literally fit like a mini dress. Love the turn out. The pocket detailing had me sold. It’s a cute little feminine touch of LOVE for the boys to rock!

Initially I wanted to wear high waist jeans but again, too hot! So I opted for shorts. The flannel around my waist was a small touch to avoid any booty exposure and again, flannels are coming back stronger than ever this season. For cool L.A. nights right now, it’s seriously all the warmth we need. To finish off the look…need I say? SNEAKERS! :)

Hope you ladies liked this street look. Be sure to check out my dear friends online shop for dope urban street apparel, RUE CO. This shirt will be available tomorrow morning so stay tune. It’s a must have for all you ladies who love to rock sneakers & basics. Thanks for stopping by my lovies. Besitos. Xx

Fall Affair

With my favorite season here, I can’t help but feel extra happy! Slowly but surely, the leaves are beginning to fall and that excites me because it means that the weather is about to get cooler. Hip hip, HOORAY! However, the heatwave still roams the city and because of it, I’m only able to embrace fall colors…! For now, enjoy my little love affair outfits with Fall :)

                               Forever 21 Booties found HERE
Top & Skort from Bubbles Boutique

The focal piece for this look is most definitely this skort that I’m utterly obsessing with. Currently, my wardrobe owns two skorts and I can honestly say, it’s one of the best clothing pieces ever created. Think about it! You can roam around with a little sex appeal anywhere in town or the city and not have to worry about the wind blowing you into the infamous Marilyn pose.

When it comes to Fall, I do like embracing the typical colors like nudes, browns, black, dark greens like Olive and of course a personal fav, dark shades of red like a deep wine and burgundy! It’s such a beautiful and passionate color…I can’t help but feel sexy when wearing it.

Like always, my looks are very minimal but thats only because I’m a very simple person. I do believe that sometimes, less is more and when it comes to looks like this, I usually like one piece to stand out the most. Had it been a cold day, I would have paired this skort with a cozy black turtle neck top. Something loose fitting. However, given that this day was uber hot, I paired it with a basic black crop top. My booties helped add that grunge edge to this sexy skort.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’m currently undergoing school craze. Papers, catching up with readings (DON’T PROCRASTINATE!), homework and midterms… ayy! Someone hand me the rifle! haha just kidding! Anyway, once again, hope you enjoyed this simple look. Remember, don’t worry about keeping up with trends this Fall. Wear what you like and embrace your own personal style. Make it yours! Xx
