Caged in Black

With Summer right around the corner and Coachella coming to an end a few days ago, I just could not wait ANY longer to wear this cute little dress! I’m absolutely loving the fit!

                     Dress: Fashion-Street LA
                     Shoes: Go Jane [similar HERE]
                     Kimono: H&M
                     Necklace: Forever 21

For the past few days, I was seeing A LOT of inspired looks to dress appropriately for the Coachella festival…which in turn inspired this look. Although a lot of the looks I saw were boho florals, raver bright and even relaxed cowboy/indian fringe, I was even more inspired to just be simple and do a MAJOR black attack. I guess what they say is true, change is the new BLACK! :)

I absolutely love everything about this dress. The flared fit, the material, the comfort, the fact that it did not fit me LONG and of course, the caged midriff that I find ‘oh so sexy’ without overdoing it. This dress is definitely on the top of my Summer wardrobe and I cant wait to wear it more often.

Although the bare midriff is not too overwhelmingly sexy, I decided to throw on this chiffon Kimono to be a tad bit more “discrete” and add femininity. I came across the kimono a few weeks ago while I was out shopping at H&M and marked at a $15 price tag, I could not pass it up. It’s really a good investment because a kimono like this one is ideal for the summer days. You can add so much more personally to bathing suits and even help cover up those tiny short shorts you have.

To finish off the look, I wore the usual arm candy & ring party on my hands. I decided to ditch the heels and knew I had to opt out with combat boots. You can never go wrong with a black pair of boots to add edge to a cute little outfit.

Hope you ladies enjoyed this post. It’s MONDAY!!! I know many people dread it but look at the bright side, it’s the beginning of the week and a GREAT opportunity to start out fresh! Make it count.

Easter in the Tropics

So I wasn’t really in the tropics (tropical island) for Easter, CLEARLY!!!  BUT my top totally made me feel like I should have been. Hope you all had a very BEAUTIFUL Easter Sunday. After Easter mass, my day was spent in with take-out and at my boyfriends side. While he studied for an exam, I watched movies and did a few chores. It was a relaxing Sunday. A girl can never complain of spending time with the one she loves :)

When I think of Easter, apart from the biblical meaning of it, I think of bunnies, baby chicks, sweet candy, CHOCOLATE, children and lots of egg hunting. Let’s not forget the fashionable side of Easter, pastel colors, floral dresses, light-weight cardigans and sandals. However, this year, I wanted to change it up a bit and wear the complete opposite. I chose to go with bold colors.

When I decided to style the two pieces together, I took a look at my outfit and I was instantly reminded of Frida Kahlo. Of course, I’d like to think this outfit would represent her style in a more chic way. What do you think?

I’m so in love with this top. Everything about it is so pretty. The colors, the parrot design, the boxy fit and even the fabric of the top. It’s so soft. It’s also great because it has a casual but high-end look to it, MAJOR plus! Another thing I love about the top is that I can easily dress it down for a day out. It’s a perfect statement piece for a day at the beach, a stroll in the park and even to take on vacation. The colors are beautiful and perfect for this upcoming Summer!!! It’s such a happy shirt and it makes me feel like I will brighten anyone’s day….at least it did to mine :)

A few posts ago, I remember describing my style as eclectic. It’s extremely versatile and I love that about it. As long as I want to and feel comfortable, I am willing to try new styles. Not so much because they are on trend but because I actually like it when I try it on! Which brings us to the midi-skirt! This is my first time owning a midi-skirt and I chose this one in particular because it was pleated. I felt like it added a little more sophistication and femininity. I know this skirt will come in handy A LOT, all occasions, including church. Major plus! +

To finish off the look, the shoes that never fail, black single sole heels. I can’t even express how much use I’ve gotten out of these babies. It should be a crime to wear them this much but I can’t help it, they work wonders. I think if Audrey Hepburn were still alive, she would totally approve!

Hope this Easter was a magical one, spent with those you love most. May God almighty continue to bless all you beautiful ladies in joy, faith, patience, strength and above all, LOVE! Remember: He loves every single one of you and this Easter, He offers the greatest gift of all, His unconditional LOVE. Take it and walk with Him daily. God has risen! He is alive more than ever and He will NEVER fail you!

Palm Sunday Match-Up

Remember a few posts ago, I mentioned that I recently started reading during Sunday mass at my church? Well, yesterday, which was Palm Sunday, was finally again my turn to read and a GREAT opportunity for an outfit. Not to get carried away from fashion but I must say, reading at church makes me so immensely happy! I know its “just” reading to some but to me, it’s more than that. It’s an opportunity to share God’s fruitful word, feed my own faith and to share HOPE to everyone sitting in those pews looking for new light & change in their lives! It’s a blessing to be able to have this experience. With that said, let’s move on to my outfit adventure..!

Every Sunday, I attend mass with my family and every Sunday, it’s an opportunity to pull out my best attire, throw on some heels and embrace simple-chic! Yesterday was no exception. I went with a very basic, conservative and polished look. This outfit of the day is what I like to call, “match-up”.

About a month back, I came across these pants and…you know the drill, I LOVED them! What don’t I love right? Anyway, these pair of pants are nothing I own in my closet and I knew it was a beautiful pair to own for Sunday mass or a lunch-date during the summer walking around shops on 3rd street Promenade. Ditching the heels and switching to camel sandals of course. Perhaps a fedora too? Beachy-fab!

Keeping in mind that I would be in church, I didn’t want to wear anything that brought more attention to my clothes than the readings. Which is why I wanted to go with a basic white blouse for these print pants. However, I got lucky because I came across this top a few days ago and I knew it would be the perfect match for these pants. It’s exactly what I wanted, versatile, basic but the navy blue trim was the perfect touch of sophistication and personality that it needed.

The look and colors were very neutral despite the amount of print these slacks had. I wish you guys could touch them, they’re so silky soft and EXTREMELY comfy. I threw on these go-to single sole heels that never fail me to help elongate my legs and add femininity to my pink toes.

I threw on this white linen blazer (you will see this blazer more & more as the seasons progress) to add more sophistication. Although I hate how easily linen wrinkles, It’s seriously a must have piece. Especially for Summer weather. To finish the look, I threw on a few “gold” pieces. Some of my favorites to be exact!

Hope you ladies enjoyed this post and I apologize about the hair! It never seems to look as pretty in pictures as it does in person…Booo! Waaa!!! haha But I promise, I will work on that. Anyway, it’s the start of Holy Week for some of us, so if you’re Catholic & Christian, may you have a WONDERFUL Holy Week. Stay away from all negative and use this week to take initiative to change your life. Seek to be better and let go of all judgements & hatred. LET GO & LET GOD! You won’t regret it! For the rest of you ladies, may you have a BLESSED week! Tootles my lovies!

Olive Mules ( i Love Mules)

Tried to be a little clever with the name of my post today…Hope you guys caught that. After all, I did wear olive slacks with a pair of my newest obsession & style of shoes, peep toe mules!

For yesterday’s outfit of the day, I wanted to wear something lightweight and feminine. What’s more feminine than crochet-lace right? I decided to re-wear my ‘oh so sexy-chic’ lace top that I wore in one of my V-day outfit ideas. I’ve gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments for this top. It’s so comfy, lightweight, romantic & sexy. I love that I can dress this top up or down without loosing some elegance.

For this look, I wanted to embrace neutral colors which is why I complimented the ivory top with these olive slacks. I bought these pants over a year ago, or more, at a local warehouse here in Downtown L.A. It’s one of my favorite spots because they carry a lot of Forever 21 closeout items for more than half the price. I score these babies for just $5 bucks. BRAND NEW! A STEAL DEAL!!!

To finish off the look, I decided to bring out my new style obsession in shoes…MULES! This is my very first pair that I own and I’m in COMFORT LOVE!!! They are ridiculously comfy, cute and versatile. I’m so happy with this purchase because they don’t look cheap and I found them at a reasonable, affordable price. They are part of Forever 21 current spring collection essentials, found HERE. Definitely won’t be my only pair. I’m already on a hunt for another pair :))

Well my lovely ladies! I hope you enjoyed this post. I kept it sweet & short because I’m currently on my lunch break. It is BLAZING hot today in L.A. So far it’s been a GREAT day! Hope yours is too wherever you may be! HAPPY MONDAY LADIES!!! :)
