Falling Threads

Hey my beautiful ladies! So guess what?! It’s finally FALL!!! I have to admit that even though I enjoy every season, Fall has got to be by far my favorite season of all. The leaves falling, the windy, chilly weather…and let’s not forget, Sweater Weather!!! Boots, scarfs, coats and lots of layering pieces!!! I can’t wait!!!

Tribal Cardi/Vest from Fashion Street LA
                                    Ripped jeans from Thrift Store
Single Sole heels from Go Jane
                                               Purse from DTLA

Even though it’s finally fall here in Los Angeles, don’t let that fool you because it hasn’t been EXTREMELY cold. In the morning it’s chilly, during the day it’s still a little warm (sometimes really hot) with a mild breeze and as soon as night falls, it can get cooler. But let’s face it, Cali does experience a lot of bipolar moods and well, you can never be too sure what the day will bring. Which is why today, I bring you this outfit of the day.

I wanted to put together a fall inspired outfit but still wearable for a warm day in L.A. This cardi/vest is going to be one of my favorite layering pieces for this fall. It’s a perfect piece to throw on over a long sleeve top, leggings, jeans or any other pants of your choice (leather pants would be sick) to start any day. Today I combined mine for a casual look. Simple jeans and a simple racerback tank to accent my shoes.

A casual look for a casual day. The dainty necklace was just a small accessory to avoid being so bare. Hope you guys like! Blessings!!! XO-M

C^H^E^V^R^O^N

If you’re wondering why I’ve neglected my blog for about a week now, I have a perfectly valid excuse…SICKNESS! Yet again another cold that completely killed me. I was so sick that I hardly had energy. Seriously, in my 22 years of life, I have never been sick as much as this year…EVER! In fact, thank goodness I am finally feeling better because I am SO ready to start blogging. This past Wednesday, although still recuperating from my cold, I had a million & one errands to run. It was one of those days were I felt like dressing up for no reason. So, I decided to bring out this sexy Chevron romper.

-Chevron Romper can be found at SailorAndSaint
                                             -DTLA purse
                                   -Heels from GoJane

So first let me just say that this romper was a gift from my lovely co-worker (Thanks Gabie!). The reason I love this romper is because it’s something fun that my closet didn’t own. It kinda of looks like something girls from the 60s would wear but of course, with a little more sexy and wearable thanks to the subtle colors.

Another reason I loved this one piece is because I can easily throw own high-waist shorts or a flared skirt to completely change the look. Easily giving the illusion that I’m wearing a top & bottoms. The peephole in the back was a great accent to give it that flirty touch. This is definitely my favorite part of this romper.

Because the chevron print is loud and eye-catching, I didn’t wear any jewelry. I kept it simple because I wanted the romper to be the center of attention. However, if I had, I probably would have worn a long and gold, very simple, charm necklace.

Chevron is very popular during the summer but I wanted to keep this look classy and stray away from ‘summery’. This is why I paired this fit with simple, single sole heels. Let me just say, these are probably the comfiest heels I own to date…AND, they were super inexpensive!

Well, there you have Wednesday’s OOTD my lovelies! Hope you guys liked it! Blessings!!! XO-M

Blanco + Negro

This Summer 13’s biggest trend alert was Black & White. Whether it was bold graphic patterns such as stripes, checkered, chevron or zebra, the combination of the two was the hottest palette, from the runway to the streets. This was my Sunday version of the classic Blanco y Negro (Translation: Black & White).

I’ve always been a fan of simplicity because it reminds me of elegance and serenity. It reminds me that less is more and for this outfit, though it may be very simple, I feel like it stands out A LOT. It’s a fresh clean look for any day of the week and I literally got ready in 10 minutes to attend Sunday mass.

Like always, I kept my jewelry at an extra minimal. Studded earrings are almost always, if not ALWAYS, my earrings of choice. I added this silver mirrored necklace to avoid being so bare. I really like how understated this necklace looked with this whole outfit. YET, without it, the look would have been incomplete!

To make the fit stray away from basic white blouses, I threw on this peplum top to give it femininity. I love this top not only because it has a bow and a low cut, open back but also because it has a mini asymmetrical cut in the back. Call it a little tail or a strand of extra fabric but I absolutely love it because it was NOT the common peplum fit.

Do you see why little features like a bow, an open back and even a certain “weird” cut can make all the difference in the world in your clothes. Though you may look basic in the front, you will always leave people staring at you from behind. Simple details like these keep your outfits looking trendy and cute. Remember: Change is good and daring to try new styles is worth a try. You have nothing to lose!

Another way I decided to give this outfit another pop without having any bedazzle or crazy prints on me was through my favorite accessory of them all…SHOES!!! I came across these puppies at one of my favorite online stores, Charlotte Russe. I love shopping for heels here because #1, it’s EXTREMELY affordable, #2, they carry A LOT of variety and #3, the most important reason of all, they carry size 5!!! If you only knew how much I struggle to find cute, trendy shoes in my size at an affordable price. Girrrrl! I have stories for days!!! …ANYWAY, let’s focus…SHOES!!!

When I saw these babies, I knew I had to get them. NOW, this isn’t everybody’s taste and some of you may be thinking, “Stripper shoes, REALLY?” But, I love these! To me, they’re a fun fit without being SO obnoxious and overwhelming. I love that they’re so basic and can be worn for a million and one looks. From sporty to classy fem and casual to a sexy night out. They are my all new fav!

Well there you have it! My late Sunday post which I apologize. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did writing it! Have a BLESSED week my lovies!!! XO-M

Bare the Bow

Hi my lovelies! So as some of you may have realized, Summer days are coming to an end. In fact, geographically speaking, Summer Soltice a.k.a “Summer” ends Saturday, September 21st. Which is in exactly 16 days from today! Lucky for me, Summer in Los Angeles, seems just about starting. This past week, I’ve experienced the 90s in the city and when I’ve been in the valley, pfft! FORGET IT! High 90s up to 103 degrees…maybe even more. SO, even though Summer is coming to an end according to geography, physically and naturally, it’s probably here for another month after it’s expiration date! Oh the joy and the perks of living in California :) I LOVE IT! Guess that means that I still have time to post Summer OOTDs which bring us to today!

If you haven’t already noticed, my days off are Wednesdays and Sundays. Those are the days I am able to do outfits of the day, see my boyfriend, clean my room/house and run any errands I may have for the week. Today was no exception. Today’s plans were mainly to get some errands done in the city and later spend a relaxing time at the Science Center Museum with my love. So considering I was about to be doing A LOT of walking in this heat, I wanted to be dressed as comfy and casually as I could but still look girly! A backless maxi dress was the best choice for me :)

I don’t own a lot of maxi dresses in my closet. In fact, I think I have a total of 3 and this is one of them. Do you know why I bought this? Take a guess….DONE? HA! If you guessed, open back you have hit the jackpot. I love backless outfits and this GIANT bow was a HUGE bonus! What I love about this dress is that in the front it looks so plain and ordinary…but the minute I turn around, BOOM! I leave the people behind me with a BANG!

Like I mentioned, looking at the dress from the front, it looks very basic. The back is extremely sexy and feminine but I still wanted to make the front eye-catching. I wanted to give it an edge and that is why I wore this spiked necklace. To compliment it, I wore these studded sandals and a basic beaded in black and silver bracelet with dangling crosses. If you notice, the front is punkish and tough but the back brings out the femininity. Hope you guys approve because I know I felt HOT ; ) Blessings!!!!!! XO- M

Black Goddess

Hey Dolls!!!!! Oh my gosh! Have I got a post for YOU today!!!! Hope you guys don’t mind the overload of pictures that’s about to scroll up!!! :) I’m so excited about this outfit because the dress that I have on is my latest obsession. It’s so BEAUTIFUL. I wore this dress yesterday to attend Sunday mass, an evening at the park & LACMA museum with my beau. Finishing the night with dinner at Bottega Louie in Downtown L.A., with one of my most AMAZING girlfriends whom I love dearly. Anyway, let’s begin! :)

When I bought this dress, I immediately fell in love with the flowy sleeves because it reminded me of a Roman goddess and the front, well that reminded me of the Renaissance era…BUT!!!! The minute i turned the dress over and saw the lacey back…I WENT BANANAS! I was sold. What I love about dresses like this, is that because they have so much detail, I hardly have to do anything. I love simplicity and love minimal accessories. So, because the dress made me feel like a goddess, I decided to wear this gold leaf headpiece I’ve had for awhile. That was the look I was going for, a modern day goddess. I threw on these cognac sandal inspired heels to avoid typical black shoes. Besides, keep in mind that in the Roman days, sandals were their everyday footwear.

Another reason why I love this dress and were more “BUY ME” points added to it was because it’s such a great piece for the fall. The dress is so versatile and I could do so much with it. For example, it literally looks like a long top that could easily be worn with leggings and boots for cold days. Ugh!!! I’m officially looking forward for Fall, which by the way is my favorite season of all. I’m especially excited to re-wear this outfit and show you a completely different styled fit.

A quick note: I decided to braid my hair and hide the rest of my hair underneath…well, MY HAIR, to emphasize and give the back lace an open focus. I didn’t want anything getting in the way of showing off those beautiful details.

Hope you guys like my outfit of the day. Here’s a little bonus of my outfit for a more casual look. I threw on my FAVORITE & handy-dandy, Charlotte Russe sandals for the evening. Above, I mentioned that the boyfriend and I went to a park and a museum after church and because we were about to do A LOT of walking, I definitely wanted to be more comfy. Below are a few of our favorite pictures that we took on our day out…hope you guys like! Blessings. XO-M
